
John Quigg
John Quigg is a member of the Advisory Board for TAC and several security firms and works for the JHU Applied Physics Lab supporting cyber initiatives in cloud, 5G, and artificial intelligence. His current efforts tie cyber and IT risks to real world operations with an emphasis on the practical implementation and governance of Big Data, Machine Learning, and Automated Response to cyber threats. He previously served as the futures strategist for White House Information Technology and was awarded several patents for High-Performance Computing in Cyber Security. He is currently assessing the cyber risks posed by transportation, utilities, and smart cities and buildings. John established the security practice at Spurrier Capital Partners, one of the east coast’s premier M&A banks and was a security consultant for government agencies and corporate customers and served as Intel McAfee’s Federal cyber strategist.
He was the Technical Director for the Defense Department’s Joint Task Force for Global Network Operations (the military’s network and security operations center), Chair of the Defense Department’s Network Operations Technical Steering Group, and a member of the task force that established US Cyber Command. His 27 year career in the United States Army ranged from tactical to strategic, from roles as an Airborne Ranger to national roles in Intelligence, Space, and Cyber Security, driving innovation into some of the most inhospitable operating environments on earth. John is both an operator and a technologist with a unique perspective on the significance of technology and its relationship to real world events both in peacetime and conflict.
