Tara Murphy Dougherty is the Chief Executive Officer of Govini, a leading national security-focused software company that leverages artificial intelligence and advanced data analytics to drive decision-making across the Department of Defense. Under her leadership, Govini has transformed from a commercial-focused firm into a public sector powerhouse, securing a $400 million DoD-wide contract and scaling its annual recurring revenue tenfold. She oversees a growing team across offices in Arlington, VA, and Pittsburgh, PA, and is a recognized thought leader in defense innovation and digital transformation.

Before becoming CEO, Ms. Murphy Dougherty served as Govini’s President, where she led strategy, growth, and delivery across all federal client engagements. She previously held leadership roles at Palantir Technologies, where she managed over $200 million in business across national security and commercial sectors, and spearheaded some of the company’s largest deployments in cybersecurity and defense.

Ms. Murphy Dougherty also served in the Office of the Secretary of Defense as Chief of Staff for Global Strategic Affairs, where she advised on policy issues spanning nuclear deterrence, missile defense, and counter-WMD. Earlier, she worked at the Center for Strategic and International Studies and Georgia Tech Research Institute, with a focus on nuclear policy, cyber, and missile defense technologies.

She holds a B.S. from Georgia Tech and an M.A. from Georgetown University. She serves on the Board of Directors for the National Defense University Foundation and AFCEA DC, and on the Advisory Board for George Mason University’s Center for Government Contracting.
