Tim Klawa is the Public Sector Field CTO at Groq, where he leads technical strategy to bring Groq’s U.S. manufactured LPU chip technology & GroqCloud with unmatched capacity and low cost to scale to deliver deterministic, low-latency performance for generative AI models in the defense and intelligence sector. Prior to joining Groq, Tim was the Head of Product for Appen’s Federal arm, adapting their enterprise data platform used in over 20,000 commercial AI initiatives to the defense and intelligence sector. His research to date has focused on how to quantify the impact of the quality of AI training data on model performance and how to optimize adaptive AI training data pipelines for dynamic military operational environments. Prior to entering the defense and intelligence sector, Tim was a member of the global product management team at Kapsch, delivering data and AI solutions for connected vehicle technology, smart city applications, and nationwide decision support systems with operational deployments in over 50 countries.
