Col Brett A. Bohne, USMC

Colonel Bohne assumed his current duties as the Division Chief, Posture, Plans, Exercises, and Strategic Alignment, J-45, U.S. Africa Command in April 2024. Colonel Bohne graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Economics. He earned master’s degrees in National Security Strategy from the National War College, National Defense University in 2023 and in Military Studies from Command and Staff College, Marine Corps University in 2014. Colonel Bohne’s operational assignments have included: two OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM deployments, first as the landing support platoon commander and Kuwait International Airport Arrival/Departure Airfield Control Group, Aerial Port of Debarkation Officer-in-Charge, and second as a Motor Transportation platoon commander supporting 1st Marine Division (in I MEF area of operations); platoon commander with 2nd Air Delivery, Beach and Terminal Operations Company, Camp Lejeune, NC; S-4 Officer for Battalion Landing Team 2d Battalion, 5th Marines, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit; S-4 Officer 2d Battalion, 5th Marines for an OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM deployment; S-4 Officer (as BOS-I and SAA manager) Task Force Al-Taqqadum (SPARTAN), Iraq; and Executive Officer, Combat Logistics Regiment 17,1st MLG, Camp Pendleton, CA. Colonel Bohne commanded Combat Logistic Battalion 4 (Okinawa, Japan) from June 2020 to June 2022. His duties in the supporting establishment have included duty as Executive Officer, Recruiting Station Dallas, 8th Marine Corps District; and as Deputy Director Leadership Education and Development (LEAD) Division, U.S. Naval Academy, Annapolis MD. Colonel Bohne’s awards include the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal (with gold stars in lieu of third award), Navy-Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy-Marine Corps Achievement Medal (with gold star in lieu of second award), Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Iraq Campaign medal, and Humanitarian Service Medal.
