Dr. Janet Wolfson

Deputy Assistant Secretary (Science, Technology, and Engineering), U.S. Department of the Air Force

Dr. Janet Wolfson is the Associate Deputy in the Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Space Acquisition and Integration (SAF/SQ), where she helps lead the Department’s efforts to advance and integrate space-related science, technology, and acquisition.

Prior to her current role, she served as Director of Science and Technology at SAF/SQ, overseeing research investments and strategy alignment with the Air Force Research Laboratory. She has also held positions as Director of Staff and Division Chief for Special Access Programs within the Air Force acquisition enterprise.

Before entering public service, Dr. Wolfson worked as a structural engineer for Applied Research Associates and the Thornton-Tomasetti Group. She practiced building design, forensic engineering, and blast-resistant design. She is a registered professional engineer in California and was a member of the response team for the World Trade Center Disaster.

Dr. Wolfson holds a doctorate in engineering and has authored over 100 publications.
