Mike Vaccaro
Mike Vaccaro is the Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Defense Trade Controls, overseeing U.S. commercial defense exports and the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) to advance national security and foreign policy objectives.
He previously served as Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Industrial Base Policy and Director for International Armaments Cooperation, where he led efforts to strengthen the U.S. defense industrial base and expand cooperation with allied nations.
Vaccaro also directed the Office of Strategic Industries and Economic Security at the Department of Commerce and began his career in international trade and policy consulting.
He holds degrees from Georgetown University and is a distinguished graduate of the National Defense University’s Industrial College of the Armed Forces. He has received awards from the U.S. and allied governments for his work on international defense trade and cooperation.
